Fratelli Contorno
Fratelli Contorno is a historic Sicilian company that produces preserved food, with particular attention to the products of the generous land of Sicily. The company was founded by the brothers Antonino and Luciano Contorno way back in 1916 in the Sette Cannoli district of Palermo. Over the years this name has established itself on the market for the authentic authenticity and aromatic freshness of its preserves, the same that earned Cavalier Antonino Contorno, cuirassier of the King's Guard of the Kingdom of Italy, a certificate of merit. Born as a factory for the processing of tomatoes and calcium citrate (extracted from lemon juice widely used in the food sector), due to a terrible crisis in the citrus fruit sector of Palermo, the company was forced to diversify production, making the choice on tomato derivatives, such as concentrates and extracts, as well as the famous aubergine caponatina. Since then, the continuous search for innovation has led the company to launch new products and achieve important goals. Today Fratelli Contorno, with its workers, represents the oldest economic reality in the sector still productive, capable of highlighting all the potential of Sicilian cuisine which is well expressed, for example, in the aubergine caponatina, condiment for pasta with sardines and cherry tomato sauce. Making use of the experience of four generations of entrepreneurs, the future of Fratelli Contorno is still aimed at fundamental objectives: the quality of the product; respect for consumer needs; full respect for the environment.
