Legatoria Littera Antiqua

We are Bianca and Giovanna, we work together since 2011, proposing accurate bindings of ancient and modern volumes. We are both Turinese but our partnership was born in Venice in front of a spritz, during a break of a working seminar. We live immersed in a magical world of ancient cards and we take care of every book that is entrusted to us, to return to each specimen a new usability through a recovery respectful of the object. Entering our laboratory means immersing yourself in a world made of paper in which modern legacy and conservation of ancient books are accompanied by, original objects and creations. Each object, book or document made of paper, within our laboratory is considered a unique and unrepeatable specimen to take care of, both in the realization of the new as well as in the recovery of the ancient. The service offered by the laboratory focuses on the binding and conservation of books, documents and works on paper such as prints, maps and geographical maps. Before each intervention, the documents entrusted to us are the subject of an in -depth analysis in such a way as to be able to intervene with technical specifications, through the use of suitable materials. Each work will aim to make book and documentary assets that can be used through a recovery respectful of the object, nonchà © again appreciable through structural interventions and chromatic additions. Furthermore, objects in paper and cardboard are returned to their original function deteriorated by time and wear through the case by case of the most suitable solution. Photographs can also require structural recovery interventions to guarantee our memories greater conservation over time. The work on photographic images is accompanied by that relating to the restoration of dedicated supports such as albums, frames and cases in canvas, paper or leather. For the conservation of documents, the laboratory operates through the design and creation of ""wraps"" that protect the volumes and everything that contain from dust and light and keep them in a non -acidic environment that slows down the natural deterioration of the paper. These boxes, tags and boxes customized are lined internally with pure cotton cardboard in reserve alkaline so as to preserve the history of the good itself, in all its aspects and with all its characteristics. Our laboratory also proposes the creation of albums, notebooks, diaries and the design of portfolio, scrapbook, planning journal and everything in it that professionals and lovers of the paper are looking for. For enthusiasts we create carnet for watercolors, notebooks bound for files, with a binding to the east or American, original origami ligatures, flag books and non -trivial solutions to collect your writings or designs. The seam is made entirely by hand and, available to the customer, the possibility of choosing between ligatures with canvas covered covers, eco -leather, prized paper printed or decorated by hand. We create unique and unrepeatable objects such as boxes, tickets, lanterns, jewelry. Designed ad hoc for every need. A feature that distinguishes us is the decoration of the paper with ancient techniques revisited in a modern key such as traditional and Japanese marbleization (Suminaghashi and Sumi-e), such as the ""Paste Paper"" and the ""Stamping"" with unusual materials. p>
