Mais Marano

Around 1890 in Marano Vicentino, in the province of Vicenza, in the Fioretti company, the Marano corn was selected, a very valuable and widespread variety of corn in the past which, still today, is selected among the best for production polenta flour. In 1999, in order to recover a variety of historical corn that risked going lost, the Marano marano protection consortium was born, the only body that guarantees the original genetic variety cultivated in the production area according to the principles of tradition and in respect of the territory. In 2010, the Cooperative Agricultural Society Mais Marano was born, which brings together the reckless producers of this precious quality.
